This is from the John Lewis 2013 christmas advertisement. I chose this as it is a good example of how advertisements can have multiple or no meaning without anchorage. As you can see, the bottom picture has no text at all and this is confusing because the audience do not know what this is supposed to be about. The middle picture has text but it does not give a hint to the audience what this adevertisment is really about, which is buying clothes, but instead it confuses the audience into believing that this advertisment is just about being happy and having a memorable christmas. The top picture sums the advertisement up as this picture shows that it's about buying people gifts from John Lewis.
